Inverleith House, Edinburgh

Designed by David Henderson in 1773 and built in 1774 as the family home of Sir James Rocheid, today Inverleith House is a central part of the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh.

It’s had a varied history, home to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern art between 1960 and 1984, before becoming an exhibition space for the Royal Botanic Garden in 1986. After touring the gardens, make sure to take a look inside this category B-listed historic building and its exhibitions of botanical and contemporary art.
