Abbey House Museum, Leeds

The museum is in the gatehouse of Kirkstall Abbey, a ruined monastery in amazing parkland.

Set up like a Victorian street, with shops and houses the museum makes you think about social history, especially the lives of Victorian children.

The house is 3 miles north west of Leeds city centre on the A65 road. It is part of the Leeds Museums & Galleries group, with the museum opening in July 1927. The ground floor is set out as an area of Victorian streets, illustrating a range of shops and services and including original shop fittings. Read more
