Wiener Riesenrad, Vienna

The Wiener Riesenrad, is a 64.75-metre (212 ft) tall Ferris wheel at the entrance of the Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt, the 2nd district of Austria's capital Vienna.

If you are near the Prater, you can’t miss the Riesenrad, a giant ferris wheel in Leopoldstadt. The 64.75 metre tall structure dates from 1896 and it has appeared in several films, most notably The Third Man. The wheel was renovated in 2008.

Before hopping on one of the cars, take some time to explore the history and development of the Riesenrad and the city of Vienna on display at the entrance.

A ride on the wheel is perfect for family therapy: kids love it and you can make the most of the views from the top (almost 200 meters) including the Schönbrunn, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Lipizzaner, a perfect photo op.
