Lille Métropole Museum of Modern, Contemporary and Outsider Art, Villeneuve-d'Ascq

Set in the midst of an equally impressive sculpture park, the museum conserves over 7,000 works from the 20th and 21st-centuries.

The LaM is the only museum in Europe to simultaneously present the main components of modern, contemporary and outsider art. Its collections include pieces by Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Joan Miró and Alexander Calder, as well as the largest collection of outsider art - or art brut - in France.

The museum is housed in a striking building by Roland Simounet, set within a sculpture park. There are ties between the works exhibited in the open air and those on show in the museum’s galleries, while the park acts as a regular venue for open-air events. A selection of performances, lectures, workshops and events are held throughout the year.
