On the descent from the Royal Mile down into Edinburgh’s New Town, you’ll walk past this early 19th-century domed, Baroque-revival building, home to the Museum on the Mound, a museum of money, coinage and economics.
It’s also the Bank of Scotland’s Head Office, but the Museum on the Mound opened on the site in September 2006. Examine artefacts which document the history of the Bank of Scotland right back to its foundation in 1695, as well as historic objects used for barter, ancient tokens and Scottish coinage, and even a million-pound banknote.
