Here you can ride on the oldest working cable tramway in Great Britain, built in 1895.
At Shipley Glen, there are two narrow-gauge ‘toastrack’ cable-hauled trams with canopy tops, which travel up and down a steep wooded hill every 3 minutes. The Tramway, restored and operated by volunteers, is in the wooded Shipley Glen near the historic village of Saltaire in West Yorkshire. There is a museum at the bottom of the station, displaying artefacts and a pictorial history relating to Shipley Glen and the tramway.
