Benaki Museum, Athens

The Benaki Museum has over 300,000 exhibits and  is right in the heart of Athens, opposite the Presidential Palace and The National Gardens.

The collection includes  Greek art spanning antiquity to modernity; departments of Chinese, Coptic and Islamic art; a collection of maps from the15th to the19th century and a department of childhood toys and games.

Perhaps the most interesting collection is the 6,000 paintings, drawings, and prints from the modern period. Although the collection includes works from all over Europe, special attention is paid to Greek artists from the 19th and 20th centuries.
