Corte Isolani, Bologna: All Year

This 15th-century gallery is perfect for high-end shopping among culture and art.

This beautiful gallery is located inside Palazzo Isolani, a 15th-century historical mansion belonging to one of the most powerful families of Bologna. Uniting a series of inner courtyards, Corte Isolani is highly evocative of the medieval splendour and reminds of family’s grandeur. This fascinating walkway stretches between Bologna’s two principal arteries, strada Maggiore and via Santo Stefano, and presents a magnificent example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. Don't forget to step back and look up for a moment, and you won’t be disappointed!

Three arrows in the wooden portico ceiling of Corte Isolani betray a dark family secret. Rumour has it that the “Othello” of the family hired three assassins to kill his unfaithful wife, but all of whom were blinded by her beauty and so fired the arrows into the ceiling.

Today Corte Isolani is occupied by upmarket restaurants and cafès, luxurious boutiques and prestigious delis, making it an interesting place to stroll through and pass some time.
