Topography of Terror, Berlin

This place of remembrance is on the site of the former SS central command.

This place of remembrance is on the site of the former SS central command. The head quarters of the Nazi Gestapo and the Reich Security Main Office were here. You can learn about the institutional horrors that were coordinated here through original photographs and documents. Inside the excavated trenches there is a second exhibition that considers Berlin’s role as the capital of the Third Reich. You’ll see the basement cells that were used to interrogate and torture around 15,000 political prisoners. Reflect on  the consequences of Nazi rule on Berlin and its people, and it has the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall in the centre of Berlin.
