Aston Hall, Birmingham

It is a leading example of the Jacobean prodigy house, a house built with a grand, showy, design. Aston Hall was completed in 1635 and lived in until 1858, when it was opened as a park and museum. The house changed hands again in 1864 (bought by the Birmingham Corporation) and today is run as a community museum with a series of period rooms.
