The George Müller Museum, Bristol

The George Müller Museum celebrates the incredible story of George Müller, who cared for and educated over 10,000 orphans, by displaying original artefacts, including the records of all the children who passed through the orphanage.

Between 1849 and 1870, Prussian evangelist George Müller opened numerous orphanages throughout Bristol, which housed, educated and cared for 10,000 orphans, to show the world that God hears and answers prayers.

A pioneer in his time, George Müller pioneered the treatment and education of orphans, both girls and boys, by establishing five large orphanages which can still be seen at Ashley Down, Bristol. Müller never raised or asked for money and yet, as a man of great faith and prayer, he received donations of around £100 million which helped fund the building and equipping of the orphanages throughout the Victorian era.

The interactive, multi-media museum, located in one of the original orphanages, allows visitors to explore the daily lives of the orphans. Visitors can discover how George Müller, a man of inspiring faith, changed the direction of the lives of thousands of children and how his legacy continues today. The museum also offers schools a dynamic learning programme with interesting and fun workshops for all levels.
