Temple of Olympian Zeus, Athens

A huge temple in the centre of Athens devoted to Zeus, ruler of the ancient Greek gods.

Don’t miss this temple, once the largest in  Greece at 96-metres long and 40-metres wide. Construction began in 515 BCE, but it was only finished in the 2nd-century CE by the Roman Emperor Hadrian.

Corinthian columns 17-metres tall used to support the colossal temple. Today you can gaze up at the 15 of the original 104 still standing today.
