Panathenaic Stadium, Athens

An ancient marble stadium dating back to the 4th-century BCE, which  is now a multi-purpose venue for music and sports events.

Go for a walk (or run) around this ancient athletic stadium, the only one in the world built entirely from marble. It was built in the 4th-century BCE to host the Panathenaic Games, a religious and athletic festival dedicated to Athena.

Throughout its history, it has hosted major athletic competitions, including events for both the 1896 and 2004 Olympics. You can still go to see sports and music events here.
