Casa Parlante Museum, Corfu

Slap bang in the centre of Corfu town, a few meters from Liston and Spianada Square, is this 19th-century town house which has been turned into a museum to show how a noble Corfu  family lived at that time. It may sound like a tourist trap but the visit is actually very informative and enjoyable.

This house still belongs to the same family but was turned into a 'museum' by a third party in 2014. The  name is meant to  reflect the strong Italian cultural and architectural influence on Corfu. This can be seen in the 19th-century interior, furniture and clothing.

Animatronic figures bring everyday living of the noble family to life. You can watch the Count reading the newspaper and the Countess welcoming guests for tea, listen to children playing music and smell the aromas of the cook's cuisine as well as many other scenes.

You can see how the layout of the house allowed the head of the family to receive people for business in his office at the top of the stairs on the first floor, without disturbing the rest of the family in the other rooms which lead from it.
