A charming wedge of a castle built in the middle of Annecy’s river Thiou.
Looking just like an old 17th-century ship with a bow, high masts and gunports, it was listed as a historic monument way back in 1900 and has since been restored numerous times, most recently in 2017.
The “Island Palace” is one of the main architectural wonders of Annecy and you can visit the dungeons and courtroom. Exhibitions and events celebrating the city’s evolution and heritage are also in the offing.
