Andalusia Contemporary Art Center, Seville

The museum is in the Carthusian monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, where the remains of Christopher Columbus were kept for 30 years.

Created in February 1990, with the aim of providing the local community with an institution for the research, conservation and promotion of contemporary art, the Andalusian Centre offers a general overview of the artistic trends developed in Spain from the middle of the 20th-century to the present day. The museum has its own permanent collection of contemporary art and focuses on the history of Andalusian creativity in relation to other national and international artistic contexts. It also presents a series of thematic exhibitions on some of the main topics of contemporary artistic creation and has a library containing more than 26,000 volumes on multiple aspects of contemporary art.
