The Lázaro Galdiano Museum is located on the famous Serrano Street, in the building formerly called the Palacio de Parque Florido, which was built under the supervision of José Lázaro Galdiano, art collector, bibliophile, and editor.
The Lázaro Galdiano Museum is located on the famous Serrano Street, in the building formerly called the Palace of Florido Park, which was built under the supervision of José Lázaro Galdiano, art collector, bibliophile, and editor. The museum houses more than 4,800 pieces spread out over floors that make up the building, which underwent a major renovation process between 2001 and 2003 in order to preserve the quality over quantity of the collections on display.
Regarding the collection itself, you can find works from both Spanish and European artists, highlighting such important figures as Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez and El Bosco. In addition to paintings and sculptures, the museum has collections of jewelry, ivory, ceramics, silver, weapons and more.
