The Magere Brug is a wooden bridge, built in 1934, over the river Amstel in the centre of Amsterdam.
The central section of the Magere Brug is a bascule bridge made of white-painted wood. Since 2003 the bridge has only been used by pedestrians and cyclists but the centre-part is open regularly to let traffic pass.
In the evening, the bridge is lit by 1,200 lights.
