Picasso Poeta, Exhibition, Picasso Museum, Barcelona: 8 November 2019-23 February 2020

The exhibition at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona highlights the close links between writing and painting in the artist's work.

Thirty years after the Picasso poète, le crayon qui parle exhibition, which took place at the Musée National Picasso-Paris in 1989-1990, on the occasion of the publication of Écrits de Picasso by Gallimard/Rmn, it seemed appropriate to highlight the importance of poetic writing in the creative process of Picasso to the new generation. Equally important is to review, in a broader context, the close links between writing and painting.

The exhibition offers a journey through many manuscript poems of the artist, confronting them with contemporary drawings and paintings. It shows the correspondences and passages between texts and paintings and the extraordinary inventiveness of the poet Picasso who handles the language with as much freedom as other art forms.
