Caminito del Rey, Malaga

Rural walkway in the province of Málaga.

Pinned along the steep walls of the narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardeles in the province of Málaga, you will find the Caminito del Rey (The king's little pathway). The path got its name when King Alfonso XIII crossed it in 1921, seventeen years after its completion. This pedestrian walkway stretches over 3 kilometres and is attached to the rock inside the canyon, with some sections only one meter in width and hanging up to 105 metres above the river below, on near vertical walls. After four years of extensive work and revocation, this impressive historic site reopened to the public in 2015. Both the beautiful gorge and walkway boast a fascinating history, so be sure to pay them a visit.
