There are over 70,000 pieces of art to offer. It is split into two galleries within the former Royal Palace of Bucharest. It ranges from medieval to modern work, including pieces rescued from monasteries that were destroyed during Romania’s Communist era. There are also works by renowned Romanian artists such as Theodore Aman, Gheorghe Tattarescu, and Constantin Brancuşi. The European side of the museum has an outstanding collection of French paintings including masterpieces by painters such as Poussin, Chardin, Ingres, David, Delacroix, Corot, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, and Braque, amassed by the Romanian Royal Family.
