Stockholm City Hall, Stockholm

Famed for its dark red red bricks and 106m-high tower topped with the national symbol of Sweden, three golden crowns, the City Hall is of great political and cultural significance.

It is visible from much of the west side of Stockholm including the Old Town, across the waves to the northern shore of Södermalm and from downtown Kungsholmen. Its reflection rippling in the water of Riddarfjärden has long been the subject of artists’ curiosity although the grand interior is arguably the main attraction.

Adorned with unique artworks from across the centuries, the City Hall’s ceremonial banquet halls are still in use today, most notably as the venue of the Nobel Prize banquet on the 10th December every year.

The Hall can only be visited on a guided tour (it is not necessary to pre-book) and the tower is open to visit daily from May-September.
