Moscow

« My home is in Moscow and I have no plans to change this » - Alisher Usmanov

The Russian capital, with its long cultural and historical past, is one of the top cities to visit in Europe. The Kremlin and the Red Square are probably the best-known attractions, but no visit is complete without venturing into its magnificent museums, galleries, parks and colourful churches. Russia’s capital is the country’s centre for culture, art, science and sports. Moscow dates back to over 12,000 years ago, meaning there’s history to explore on every street corner. Any visitor to Moscow has to go to some of its world-famous museums, including the huge State Historical Museum which shows you the city’s history from the Stone Age to the 20th-century. Also not to miss are the spectacular palaces such as Kolomenskoye and Tsaritsyno, giving you the chance to dive into the world of the former Russian royal family. Since 1991 after the fall of the communist regime, the arts have also flourished in Moscow and you can now go to some of the numerous art galleries and exhibitions dotted around the city. Although Moscow might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of great nightlife, the city is actually home to some of Europe’s largest and liveliest bars and nightclubs. And of course, Moscow is also home to the world famous Bolshoi theatre, so if you’re an opera lover try to book a ticket in advance
