Saint-Raymond Museum, Toulouse

This archaeological museum first opened in 1982.

The first floor is filled with pieces from the Roman villa at Chiragan in Martres-Tolosane. Gaze into the faces of one of the largest collections of Roman portraits in the world and marvel at marble reliefs depicting the labours of Hercules.

On the second floor you can see what the Roman city of Tolosa (Toulouse) looked like. Finally, go down to the basement where you can walk around a 4th-century Christian necropolis and admire a collection of sarcophagi and funerary inscriptions.
