Fondation Vasarely, Aix-en-Provence, Provence

The foundation has a permanent collection of 42 large-scale artworks by Vasarely. Up to six metres wide and eight metres high, the abstract geometric pieces were created by the artist in the 1960s and 1970s. They are made from a variety of materials - think aluminium, fabric, ceramics, enamel and glass -  in a combination of coloured and monochrome designs. The result, when paired with the foundation’s striking architecture, is a Gesamtkunstwerk, a “total artwork”. 

Along with its permanent exhibition, the Vasarely Foundation hosts temporary exhibitions, concerts, guided tours, conferences, art workshops and educational programs for children and families.
