Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh

As one of the UK’s most famous zoos, the historic Edinburgh Zoo is well-worth a visit both for its legacy in animal conservation and the incredible range of wildlife it still cares for today.

Established over a 100 years ago in 1913, today the zoo is home to everything from exotic birds, to tropical fish, to Asian lions and Sumatran tigers, as well as the only giant pandas currently living in the UK. Make sure to catch the daily “Penguin Parade”, part of the zoo’s historic connection with the birds since the first three king penguins to be imported to the UK from the South Atlantic arrived at the zoo in January 1914.
