Le Parc Valmer, Marseille

An exotic park on a hill which offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Do not miss an opportunity to visit Parc Valmer while walking along La Corniche du Président John Fitzgerald Kennedy (the boulevard of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy). The park has a great diversity of palm trees, plus other tropical and native plant species, as well as a children’s playground and spectacular views.

Unfortunately, the Villa Valmer, a Renaissance style villa (which looks more like a small castle) is not open to the public. It was built in 1865 by a rich merchant, Charles Gonnelle, to the designs of Marseille architect Condamin.

Originally, the property was called Vague à la mer (Wave of the sea) which eventually became Valmer.
