It’s hard to miss the 12th-century Castle of Manta sitting right in front of the Cottian Alps; indeed, it looks like the crown of Monviso.
Check out the medieval era interiors, the baronial hall decorations, the church, as well as the breathtaking view of the Cuneo Alps at this 12th century fortress.
Valerano, the son of the Marquisate of Saluzzo, Thomas III turned the castle into a home for himself and his family. Alongside the many rooms, the walls of the Baronial Hall stands out as one of the rare but magnificent examples of late gothic painting. They are decorated with a fresco cycle which depicts mythical heroes and heroines, as well as the Fountain of Youth.
