Once the fief of the powerful Scotti family, today you can only access Vigoleno castle by the north-west tower built in the 11th-century.
Climb up the castle keep for views of the medieval village below, or keep your feet more firmly on the ground in the exhibit rooms about medieval life, including one for the brave-hearted about contemporary torture methods. If you want a more immersive (and luxurious) experience, you can book into one of the hotel suites in either the central building or the castle’s watchtowers, complete with antique furniture and paintings.
