Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, Exhibition, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris: 30 September 2021-24 April 2022

This Parisian stage marks the return of this immense creator, visionary couturier, photographer, perfume inventor and showman, in the city where he was so successful. From the 1970s until the fashion world turned the page in 2002, Thierry Mugler established himself as one of the most daring and inventive couturiers of his time, going so far as to embody the very image of the 1980s thanks to a graphic silhouette of remarkable strength. In the 1990s, he made a powerful contribution to the revival of haute couture with his collections and his sense of staging spectacular fashion shows and grandiose photographs, combined with the most iconic models, such as Jerry Hall and Iman.

Perfumes, photos, haute couture: Thierry Mugler touches on everything and succeeds each time in creating incredible works and products. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is pleased to pay tribute to him through a collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. This overview of the designer's work reminds us of the major role he has played in the world of fashion for almost 50 years.
