Historic Centre of Warsaw

A UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 13th-century.

Warsaw’s Old Town began to emerge in the early 1200s and continued to develop over the following centuries.

Unfortunately, 85% of the Historic Centre was destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising against the Nazi-German occupation in 1944. A period of careful reconstruction followed, and it‘s astonishing (though somewhat disappointing) when you realise that it has been fully restored.

Amble around the medieval network of streets and squares. Make sure you visit the Market Place Square at the centre of the Old Town and admire the Syrenka, a bronze statue of a mermaid created in 1855.

There are lots of charming shops, cafes, restaurants, museums, and churches to check out throughout the Old Town.
