Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw

If you are in Warsaw, or if you are a fan of modern art, it worth a visit in Zacheta National Gallery of Art.

Located in the heart of Warsaw, the Zacheta National Gallery of Art displays numerous of art pieces of contemporary Polish artists.

Founded by the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, originally intended to provide a place for supporting and encouraging artists, Zachęta’s history dates back to 1860.

Zacheta gallery has not the permanent exhibition. The temporary shows includes sculptures, paintings, photographs, video works and installations from Polish and foreign artists. Nowadays, Zacheta plays an important role for promoting young Polish creators.

The gallery aim at present and support Polish contemporary art and artist. There are regularly a wide range of cultural events, such as: concerts, workshops, meetings with artist, tours and film screenings for public.

Some famous exhibitions organized by Zacheta: “The Sun and Others Stars”, “Warsaw–Moscow / Moscow–Warsaw 1900–2000”, “New Zone. Chinese Art”, “Invasion of Sound. Music and the Visual Arts”, “Generation in Transition. New Art from India” etc. There were also the exhibitions towards children such as“Interactive Playground”.
