Saint-Étienne-au-Mont, Bénifontaine

Stretching over several kilometers, this northern French commune presents a true diversity of natural and historical importance.

The commune is divided into two parts: the historically and architecturally rich settlement of Pont-de-Briques, and the coastal area of Écault.  Walking the streets of the former, visitors will discover a wealth of historical sites including its eponymous castle; the former headquarters of Napoleon. The town also offers a large number of cultural events for both locals and tourists, whether that be the weekly food market or the annual art and nature exhibition held in September.

For those looking to explore the natural beauty of the region, the coastal settlement of Écault can be found just five  kilometres east. The sandy beach is backed by forests and dunes, and if you follow the ‘Path of the Jews’ inland you will see  the wartime remains of the Atlantic Wall and the Château d’Hardelot.
