Forêt domaniale d'Écault, Pas-de-Calais

The forest is situated between the communes of Saint-Étienne-au-Mont and Condette, set behind the beautiful sand beaches of the Opal Coast. An abundance of marked trails, extending to the adjacent sand dunes and beach, make the wooded landscape a popular destination for a walk, run or cycle. 

During the Second World War, many Jewish prisoners were to transport materials for the construction of blockhouses on the beach of Écault; the remains of which can still be seen today. Their route is marked in the forest - the "Path of the Jews" - and will lead to both an observatory at the top of the dunes and a monument in their memory.
