National Science and Media Museum, Bradford

The museum explores the science and culture of image and sound technologies, and the impact they have on our lives.

Using their galleries and exhibition spaces, the museum displays a world-famous collection of photography, film and television. There is  a team of ‘Explainers’ throughout the space, who create learning activities to allow you to find out more about the collections, as well as three cinema screens, showcasing the ‘magic of moving images’ from around the world in Bradford, which is the first UNESCO City of Film. Their collection, made up of over three  million items, includes three pivotal firsts: the world’s earliest known surviving negative, the earliest television footage, and the camera that made the earliest moving pictures in Britain.
