For the first time since its foundation in 1934, the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris has loaned a corpus of unique works, many never exhibited elsewhere in the world and signed by some of the greatest exponents of Impressionism.

Mainly Monet, but also Manet, Renoir, Degas, Corot, Sisley, Caillebotte, Morisot, Boudin, Pissarro and Signac will be the undisputed protagonists of the Monet exhibition and the Impressionists. Masterpieces from the Musée Marmottan Monet which, from 13 March to 12 July 2020, will be hosted in the halls of Palazzo Albergati in Bologna: an unrepeatable opportunity to retrace the evolution of the most loved pictorial movement globally.

After the great success achieved by the exhibition “Chagall. Dream and magic ”, which will end on March 1st, Arthemisia Group is pleased to present this exceptional exhibition in Bologna, with an exhibition itinerary that will excel - alongside pivotal masterpieces of French impressionism such as Portrait de Madame Ducros (1858 ) by Degas, Portrait de Julie Manet (1894) by Renoir and Nymphéas (1916-1919 ca.) by Monet - unpublished works for the general public because they never left the Musée Marmottan Monet. This is the case of Portrait de Berthe Morisot étendue (1873) by Édouard Manet, Le Pont de l'Europe, gare Saint-Lazare (1877) by Claude Monet and Jeune Fille assise au chapeau blanc (1884) by Pierre Auguste Renoir.

Through 57 masterpieces, the Monet exhibition and the Impressionists. Masterpieces from the Musée Marmottan Monet also want to pay homage to all those collectors and benefactors - among whom many descendants and friends of the same artists on display - who, starting from 1932, have contributed to enrich the prestigious collection of the Parisian museum by making it one of the richer and more important in the preservation of the impressionist memory.

The exhibition is produced and organized by the Arthemisia Group and curated by Marianne Mathieu, Scientific Director of the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris.
