Church of San Gregorio Armeno, Naples

An elaborate 16th-century monastic complex in baroque style.

Nuns built this monastic complex in the 16th-century after they escaped persecution during the Byzantine Empire (330 to 1453 CE).

The church is a masterpiece of baroque architecture and art. The gilded interior, elaborate marble decorations, and beautiful frescoes will dazzle you when you step inside.

Don’t miss the marble fountain decorated with dolphins in the cloister, or the 18 paintings by Paolo de Matteis depicting the life of Mary.
