The Third Man Museum is a meeting place for people interested in film and a door-opener to Vienna’s post-war history.
"The Third Man", a film shot in Vienna in 1948 and presented for the first time in London in September 1949, celebrated an unprecedent international triumph.
This special exhibition marking this anniversary will show lots and lots of Third Man "treasures" from our archives. Precious artefacts usually hidden in dark rooms and boxes will - for the first time - be on display.
The whole museum gets a facelift, film quotes lead through the exhibition; detailed documentation deals with the historic background to the film and shows originals from the occupation period in Vienna (1945-1955).
