The Monumental Cemetery of Milan is a large cemetery designed by Carlo Maciachini in 1866.

This cemetery is well known for the small monuments and aesthetic tombs. There are many Greek temples, obelisks, and sculptures too.

Visitors can enter through the Hall of Fame which has the tombs of Italy’s most noteworthy citizens like Alessandro Manzoni. Architect Mario Palanti designed the Civico Mausoleo Palanti for commendable Milanese citizens, specifically those who lost their lives during the Holocaust. There is also a Jewish section which contains tombs, monuments, and shrines.

The Monumental Cemetery of Milan is a humble, yet fascinating place.
