Church of Our Lady Before Týn, Prague

One of the most iconic sites in Prague, the Church of Our Lady Before Týn, has been the main church in the Old Town since the 14th Century.

The Church of Our Lady Before Týn, which overlooks Prague’s Old Town Square, was built in the Gothic style between 1256 and 1511. The interior has since been renovated in Baroque style, although the outside remains one of Europe’s most famous examples of Gothic religious architecture. The church is named after Týn, a nearby courtyard used by 14th Century merchants.

Today, the cathedral is open for sightseeing outside of mass time. Inside are elaborate windows, carvings, and paintings from the Gothic, Renaissance and Early Baroque eras.
