A hilltop castle overlooking the village of Gesualdo.
At the centre of the village lies this hilltop castle. Dating back to the 7th-century, it has been renovated many times since.
The architecture is a jumble of gothic (12th to 16th-century), Renaissance (15th to 16th-century), and 19th-century influences.
Take a stroll around the Renaissance courtyard, with its three arches, added by Carlo Gesualdo at the end of the 16th-century. Carlo, Prince of Venosa, was a popular musician infamous for killing his first wife.
