Monsieur Jean, Lille

Inspired by his region and his mother’s cooking, double Michelin-starred chef Marc Meurin delivers an exciting menu based on traditional principles.

Marc Meurin began his journey as a self-taught chef. Deeply attached to his region, he has never given in to the temptation of continuing his career in Paris; instead developing his trade within the borders of northern France. In 1992, he earned his first Michelin star for his restaurant at Château de Beaulieu, to which he added a second star six years later.

In 2010 he opened Monsieur Jean in the heart of Lille, opposite the opera house and Old Stock Exchange. Housed in the upstairs of a classical 17th-century building, the Flemish facade and impressive staircase are supplemented with trendy yet cosy decor, chosen by the chef’s wife.

The menu, designed by Meurin alongside his executive chefs, is equally well curated. The cuisine stays loyal to the region and traditions that shaped Meurin’s life, using local and seasonal produce to carefully craft his dishes. The ‘Menu du Marché’ offers between two and four courses (€27-40), with the option to include accompanying drinks - an aperitif, wine and coffee - for €30.
