Hospice of the Venerable, Seville

The Hospice of the Venerable (Hospice de los Venerables) is a 17th-century Baroque monument in Seville.

Originally built as a retirement home for elderly and poor priests, it is now home to the Centre de Velazquez, an institution dedicated to the painter of the same name. The Hospice of the Venerable Ones is in the heart of the Santa Cruz district, very close to many  attractions such as the Murillo Gardens, the Cathedral of Our Lady and the Alcazar of Seville. The cloister of the monument has a central stepped fountain with circular steps decorated with tiles. The courtyard is planted with orange trees and many other plants to maintain humidity and bearable heat in summer. The Hospice of the Venerable Ones has one of the most beautiful patios in Seville.
