The Marriage of Figaro, one of Mozart's best-known operas, is once again on the stage of the Palais Garnier, Paris, in 2022. Book your tickets in advance!
Working with a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte after Beaumarchais, Mozart transcended the codes of opera buffa to elevate the genre to a comedy of manners, with incomparable psychological finesse. Thanks to his instinct for the stage, he successfully reconciles poetry, theatre and music, in recitatives, arias and ensembles that are all engraved in the collective memory. As Almaviva, Gerald Finley returns to a role upon which he has already left his mark, conducted by Louis Langrée in a production by Netia Jones that blends reality with fiction.
