Musée du Vieux Montpellier, Montpellier

The collection includes many portraits, engravings, religious statuettes, textiles and in particular important pieces: a Black Madonna and Child from the 13th-century, the “gilded cabinet of the consuls” (17th-century) and stones from the Bastille. 

The Musée du Vieux Montpellier is divided into five display rooms: the reception hall, the procession room, the 18th-century reception, the revolution room and the fireplace room. You can not miss the masterpiece in the hall:  the 13th-century statue of the Virgin and Child and its tabernacle, the reproduction of the Dillon plan (18th-century), so named after its recipient (the Archbishop of Narbonne),  as well as watercolours and prints including the Siege of Montpellier.
