Paris Plages

From late July to late August, the banks of the  River Seine are  transformed into a festive ‘faux’ beach, called 'Paris Plages.' The banks are lined with buckets of sand, blue umbrellas, palm trees and beach chairs.

Bask in the sun by the River Seine on a relaxing afternoon with a Nutella-filled crêpe in hand.  From Pont des Arts to Pont de Sully on the right bank, the Parc Rives de Seine offers exceptional views of the historic monuments of Paris such as the Notre Dame of Paris cathedral, the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay. During Paris Plages, people strolling along the quays can sit on the lawns and wooden terraces to enjoy this unique and unusual setting, of palm trees and sun umbrellas. Parisians and tourists don their swimsuits on hot days and soak up the sun. There is a small pool, but sadly  Paris Plages does not allow swimming in the Seine. Come during the later hours for less intense sun and crowds. Entry is free with frequent entertainment. There are free concerts and a  wide variety of sports to participate in and activities for children, making it the perfect summer spot for families. Beach food is affordable, from hot dogs to ice cream and drinks so you can spend a relaxing day at the beach, Parisian style.
