A museum and memorial of Hohenschönhausen prison.
The East German Ministry of State Security, known as the Stasi, opened this former prison in 1951. It was turned into a memorial and a museum by former inmates in 1994.
After the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, political opponents and any one who tried to escape to the West got locked up here.
Wandering around the prison and the jail cells, gives you an idea of the suffering which inmates endured.
