Musée du Cinéma, Paris

Gaze at the spectacular outside of the building, by architect  Frank Gehry, before browsing three floors of some of the finest pieces of cinematography heritage: film rolls, cameras and other technical equipment from the very beginning of cinema to the 20th century.

The collection is largely made up of cinema memorabilia brought together by the founder of the Cinémathèque française, Henri Langlois, and shows his true dedication to the seventh art. He was one of the first people to realise the importance of preserving cinematic material and the Musée du cinéma has carried on his important work, restoring and protecting fragile pieces of cinematic history and promoting old and new cinema in all its forms.

Don't miss the head of Madame Bates' corpse from Hitchcock's Psycho and the dress worn by Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind.
