Falkirk Wheel, Falkirk

Built in 2002, this feat of engineering is totally unique in its design and function. It is the world's first and only rotating boat lift, which connects Forth & Clyde Canal and the Union Canal to allow for easy navigation throughout Scotland. Go on a boat trip and be lifted 35 metres into the air and enjoy spectacular views of central Scotland.

After working up an appetite a visit to the cafe is well deserved, where you can enjoy sweet treats and drinks while looking out over the canal or you can step into nature by following the nearby associated woodland paths.
