The gallery houses ones of the UK's finest collection of fine and decorative art, with a collection of around 12,000 objects from Pre-Raphaelite paintings, Chinese ceramics and some of the world's finest Wedgewood jasperware.
Its namesake is entrepreneur and multimillionaire businessman William Hesketh Lever. The gallery acknowledges, however, Lever's activities in West Africa and strives to address these untold histories of exploitation through their collections, displays and exhibitions, in order to give a more transparent, deeper understanding of Lever's character and business empire.
